It took 20 questions of intense drama at the conference hall of DepEd Region 3 Office in Maimpis, San Fernando City in Pampanga to determine this year’s Regional Population Quiz Champion from amongst nine (9) of the region’s best young quizzers.
In the end, Tarlac NHS scored a historic triple with Melvin I. Bondoc succeeding his schoolmates Imee Rose B. Estrada and Jose Mari G. Agustin.
Bondoc, a fourth year Special Science Class student of Tarlac NHS, was presented with P2,500 cash prize. He will fly to Iloilo together with his coach Mrs. Evelyn B. Bautista and other Region III delegates on April 9 to 13, 2012 to compete at the prestigious National Pop Quiz. He’s determine to triplicate the feat of his schoolmates Estrada and Agustin who emerged as the national champions in 2010 and 2011’s Pop Quiz.
Charlie M. Del Rosario of Pulong Buhangin HS and Edrian G. Felipe of Betis HS placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. For his second place prize Charlie received P1,500 and Edrian received P1,000.
Both Pulong Buhangin HS and Betis HS tied for the second place. It was with the 2nd Clincher that got Pulong Buhangin HS the chance to win the second spot.
The theme of the said activity was “Population, health, education, environment and governance."
